Client’s creative expression when reflecting on their journey at FAN at their last session.
Family Access Network is here for our young people, providing support that fosters healing, growth, and self-discovery.
One of our clients, who began their journey with us in early 2025, came seeking support for the weight of their experiences. They were facing challenges linked to family violence, exploring their gender identity, living with neurodivergent traits, and processing the pain of a recent relationship breakup.
Through our Creative Arts Therapy and Talking with Pride programs, the client found a safe, non-judgmental space to explore themselves and their experiences. Creative expression became a bridge back to parts of themselves they had long left behind. From music and drawing to painting and writing, they reconnected with the power of imagination, play, and personal expression.
The client reflected on their journey with words that resonate deeply:
“Don’t try to be ‘cool’, be warm.”
This simple but powerful insight speaks to the importance of being authentic, embracing oneself fully, and letting go of external pressures. They also shared:
“These therapeutic supports have been very supportive; these creative-based programs and services are something I haven’t had before, and it’s been what I have needed.”
Through their sessions, the client was able to “plant the seeds” of self-discovery, tending to themselves with care and patience. Their journey reflects growth, tranquility, and an expansion of understanding. It’s a reminder that healing and creativity often go hand in hand.
At FAN, we are proud to provide spaces where young people can explore, express, and nurture their whole selves.
