Therapeutic support for recovery from family violence
Family Access Network (FAN) provides therapeutic support for young people in Melbourne’s outer eastern region who are recovering from experiences of family violence.
FAN offers two types of therapeutic support to meet different needs:
- Talking with Pride (TWP): a free group-based therapeutic program for LGBTIQA+ young people, providing a safe and affirming space to connect with peers and build wellbeing and resilience.
- Pathways to Resilience: a free one-on-one counselling program offering individual therapeutic support in a safe, affirming and non-judgemental environment.
Both programs are designed to support healing, strengthen coping skills and empower young people to move forward at their own pace.
Talking with Pride: What is it?
- A free therapeutic support group specifically for LGBTIQA+ young people aged 15–25 who have experienced family violence.
- Weekly group sessions during each school term as an 8-week program
- Provides a safe, affirming and non-judgemental space
- Offers opportunities to:
- Connect with peers with shared experiences
- Share stories at your own pace
- Explore identity in a supportive environment
- Develop practical coping strategies
- Build confidence, wellbeing and resilience
- Feel heard, believed and supported
- You can join at any time and leave at any time and there is no requirement to attend all 8 weeks

- Weekly during school terms
- Location: Box Hill
- Time: Tuesdays, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
- Term 2, 2026 Dates (8-Week Program)
- Week 1: Tuesday 28 April
- Week 2: Tuesday 5 May
- Week 3: Tuesday 12 May
- Week 4: Tuesday 19 May
- Week 5: Tuesday 26 May
- Week 6: Tuesday 2 June
- Week 7: Tuesday 9 June
- Week 8: Tuesday 16 June
Pathways to Resilience
- Pathways to Resilience is a free individual therapeutic support program
- For LGBTIQA+ people aged 15–25 who have experienced family violence
- Available to young people in the Melbourne’s outer eastern region
- Includes up to 10 individual sessions
- Offers a safe, affirming and non-judgemental space to share experiences and build support at your own pace
