Volunteer Support Teams – student houses


Do you relate well to young people aged between 15-25 years?
Are you available Monday evenings between 6:30 – 9:30?

FAN provides a range of transitional housing and support for young people aged 15-25 years whom may be experiencing homelessness or at risk.

Volunteers work as part of a close knit team and are attached to an allocated supported accommodation student house which comprises of 2-3 male or female occupants located in Box Hill area. There is no typical evening at the houses, however both clients and volunteers will collectively participate in a range of activities, such as cooking meals, budgeting skills or assisting with homework/assignments.

Volunteers are not expected to take on role of staff but offer support and guidance for a minimum of 3 hours each Monday evening between 6:30 – 9:30 (negotiable).

This is an invaluable opportunity to make a difference to the lives of young people and regular support and ongoing training is provided.

FAN is committed to providing a child safe environment and all volunteers are required to undertake mandatory Working With Children and National Police checks.

Volunteer Support Team –GLBTI

Volunteers work as part of a close knit team and are attached to a same sex attracted supported accommodation house located in either Mont Albert or Hawthorn. There is no typical evening at the houses; however both clients and volunteers will collectively participate in a range of activities such as cooking meals, budgeting skills, assisting with homework and/or job searching.

Volunteers are not expected to take on role of staff but offer support and guidance for a minimum of 3 hours each Monday evening between 6:30 – 9:30 (negotiable).

Induction training, ongoing support, supervision and fortnightly meetings are provided. In order to be successful for this position, volunteers must be able to relate to some of the issues facing same sex attracted young people
